Helipilot
Hello vermilye, Do you remember AH1G Cobras at that firebase in the A Shau in '69? I stayed for two weeks at a time there with my aircraft supporting operations. I was 101st Airborne, 4/77 ARA (Aerial Rocket Artillery). We provided close air support and gunship cover for the infantry. I took 127 hits to my ship from ground fire while in the valley. and also got the Purple Heart near the end of my tour there. Thanks for your service and have you noticed in all the above posts we were all handsome and skinny guys back then? I was in the ASA from when I enlisted in 72 until they deactivated it. Udorn was the nearest big town in Thailand but a few miles down the road from Nong Soon which was the small town outside the gate. Google used to have some nice images of the 7th but they are now all blurred or hidden. First rule of computer consulting: Sell a customer a Linux computer and you'll eat for a day.
