Zulu
Here's a wiring diagram that shows the largest Hopper 3 network (1 Hopper 3 + 6 Joeys) -- a bit of an overkill for an RV. The new Hopper 3 wiring is much, much simpler than before: SKP #79313 / Full-Timing / 2001 National RV Sea View / 2008 Jeep Wrangler Rubiconwww.rvSeniorMoments.comDISH TV for RVs
Twotoes
I still use a Pathway X2 and the 211K but am looking at getting a new Class A and a Travl'er. The article says that if you have a Tralv'er it has to be converted to work with the new Hopper. Will a new Travl'ler work with the new Hopper out of the box? 2015 Itasca Ellipse 42QD 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon Hard Rock Edition 2021 Harley Street Glide Special Fulltimer

Nope -- but Upgrading a Winegard Travler to DISH Pro Hybrid is not a big deal. sfunk511
Currently I have the Dish Traveler that I had roof mounted last May on my 06 Beaver Motorcoach . that is wired to my VIP211K HD receiver. I would like to upgrade so that I could record TV shows as I am a full timer. Is this new Hopper system the way to go and if so what would be needed. Thanks for your input. Mark and Dale Bruss
The jury is out at the moment. With the Trav'ler and Hopper 2, it is a wonderful system. There are new LNBFs (the head of the dish arm) and Hubs that can be mounted on a Trav'ler and it (both the Trav'ler and the Hopper 2) works. Zulu had tested this. The new Hopper 3 changes how the new LNBFs and Hubs work electronically. What we don't know is if the Trav'ler will work in the Hopper 3 mode. Having a Hopper 1 and a Trav'ler, I would say that it is the right thing to do. As for the Hopper 3, this might be the first time that Dish has made it difficult for RVers to use the latest technology. When DirecTV changed the LNBFs for HD TV, they disqualified all Dome Dish for receiving HD signals. What we have to hope for is that Winegard will come up with a mod for the Trav'ler that will support the Hopper 3. Given Winegard's track record, that is a pretty good bet, but how soon? The Hopper 3 starts shipping this month so Winegard probably doesn't have a unit to test with. If the new Hopper 3 works with a modified Travler, then, yes, Hopper 3 is the way to go. It has 16 tuners (far more than you really need), greatly simplified wiring compared to what's currently required, and the Hopper 3 is very, very fast. I've tested my Hopper w/Sling (a "Hopper 2") with my modified Travler and my Hopper worked fine. However, I'd hold off about a month or so until someone actually tests a Hopper 3 with a Travler.
