Parks near Houston

Greetings everyone,

Looking for a winter home near Houston and found this one. I have had good luck with online reviews for other parks I have visited, but every now and then I find one that seems to have gotten lost. It seems nice and the price is right, but.....Magnolia Oaks Rv Park in Magnolia Tx. They haven't had a review since 2013, although those reviews were very good. Anyone been there recently? Still good?

Or, can anyone recommend a park near Houston that is nice yet reasonably priced, based on your experience?

Thanks

I do not know about this one, but DO NOT go to Magnolia Country in Hockley, TX.

Check out The Corral RV Park in Tomball, TX.

Corral looks like a nice park although the electric policy seems a little strange; I have never used more than about $40 month so that is just not a good way to do business IMHO.

Going to stop by Livingston for at least a couple days to get my rig weighed so perhaps that park is a possibility.....

Thanks everyone for the responses.

Houston is about 630 square miles. If we knew which part of the city you'll be spending time in, someone might be able to recommend a park closer to your activities.

Too big a city for my tastes! Actually planning to visit family that lives near central Houston so it really doesnt matter... most of the places I looked at within an hour of town were either very expensive, poorly rated, or already full. So I found what seems to be a nice KOA about hour and half away. We shall see.

You might look at Green Caye in Dickinson - probably 45 minutes from downtown depending on traffic. More pricy but handy is Advanced RV at Pearland, only 20 minutes from downtown. Two right together near Dickinson are Marque on the Bay and Marina Bay.

You may need to get on a waiting list for some of these, but I think they will all be less expensive than KOA if you are looking at long term stays.

We were at this park for a rally 5 days or so around Memorial Day and found it to be extremely well setup and run by some excellent folks. It is just north of Caldwell about 1 mi and has a Walmart. What more could anyone want. :D

Check out http://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/stephen-f-austin Stephen F. Austin State Park near San Felipe.

It seems to be a favorite of all who use it!

I did notice a tag that said they have had flood damage, so check with them before you go. I am SURE you won't be disappointed!

Stephen F Austin State Park is closed into sometime in 2017 due to flood damage this past may. Chcek the TPWD website.

The Escapees RV park in Livingston is 75 miles NNE of Houston

(center of city). It is lower cost and I like it but a bit to far from many parts

of Houston.

If you are in Houston for visit then I would, as noted above, find out what part

of the city that you will want to be in a look there. Houston is a very large city.

Good Luck

Well, Advanced is a nice, clean park with some of the most modern, well-kept bathrooms and laundries I've ever seen.

Downtown Houston is 20 minutes away.

However it's pricy. I think the highest rates we've ever paid. It's real estate: location, location, location.

(Been here at Advance going on 6 months now.)

Did a "drive-by" and glad I did. NEVER would I stay there. Do a Google" satellite. The Corral RV Park in Tomball is very nice. A little difficult to locate, but use MapQuest.

Traders Village in Houston is a basic, but clean RV Pak. It is also a very popular and large flea market. Good prices and popular with Rv'er's.

If you stay there, do not leave anything out unless it is locked down. The traffic is horrible on weekend due to the flea market. Sites are small and crowded.
