1. I cross the border once a week in my pick up. And usually every weekend during the summer In my HDT. For the most part , at the larger ports when you have the HDT I use the commercial lane. Tell them first thing you are not commercial. Most of them respect this. The car lanes/ rv lanes are not designed to deal with a truck this tall. We all know that the truck is not commercial, but it looks like a commercial truck. That’s why this happens , and no one looks at the side of the truck for the not for hire. And trust me when the DOT stops you he doesn’t care how it’s licensed or tagged. I got stopped in a truck 40MPH. And it was a 55MPH road. I was going 55. End result was a speeding ticket. His quote was. I don’t care how it’s licensed, you’re a truck and you know your a truck. Trip to the court house. Judge asked for a pic of the set up. His reply was. That’s a truck, not a motor home. And I had to pay the ticket. Something to keep in mind in our travels. Also here in Manitoba. We are also bound by road restrictions in the spring and must follow them.

Weights

Thanks, my truck is similar, and will be hauling a side by side on it across the deck Trailer will unload the front axle when hooked up. Truck is very light in the back and gets stuck easy. I just wanted to compare what everyones unloaded weights were. Lol just seems a lots worse than my old truck. And I have lots to install on it. I won’t be able to work on it for as I am headed to Pheonix next week. Does everyone have a locking rear diff? This one does my old truck didn’t. thanks again

I am not the weight police . Lol In the process of putting new truck together. My old truck I singled short. And had for 12 years. My new truck. Still working on I singled it long. And still working on it. It’s bare no hitch or anything. I need to build a deck for my side by side and a few other things. Front axle around 11000 rear is 6500. I know it will change. Wondering what everyone else is like for weight without a trailer????? this is the first auto shift I have ever driven. Seems to be harder to drive than a standard.
4. I ran a trailer saver TS3 on my last truck. Had it for 12 years and pulled over 225,000 KM ( 140,000 miles ) Worked great. Only a few maintenance things need to be done. Nothing wrong with that hitch in my opinion. I have another TS3 ready to install on my new truck as soon as I get around to it.

New truck

It’s ok here in Manitoba where live. I just licensed my truck and put insurance on. Basically insure as you declare it. To drive it here. You can drive any 2 axle truck with a class 5 (car licences ) you only need air brakes. If you are pulling a trailer over 10,000 gvw you need a class 3 license

New truck

It’s in Canada. Loadline is the company. And why not a Volvo? Well personally, I am not a Volvo fan. I never really cared to work on them or drive them. Don’t like their electrical , or drive train. Maybe it’s a ford vs chev thing. Not sure. My last truck a 387 Peterbilt I pulled my camper with for 12 years. Was great. And if it was practical, this one would have a longer hood on it. Got my new truck home today. So a bit it work left before spring.

New truck

Well the place I bought the truck wanted the front axle. Saved me all the work of removing it. No charge to remove it and install the hanger and driveshaft. What could be better than that??? I am not sure I want to store the wheels and tires. The new style drivelines are quite expensive so I told them they can have them and we will work out a deal on the drive line. This shop does a lot of frame modifications, adding axles , specializes in mostly farm trucks, beet and grain hauling. They also make their own grain and gravel boxes. Very impressive place. I have been doing business with them for a long time. You will be hard pressed to find a farm without one of there boxes on it.

Paccar MX-13 , with a Paccar 12 speed automatic, 279 rear diff with lockers. Doesn’t have the APU. That’s the only other thing I would have wanted. Sometime in the new year I will start working on it. I got some time till the snow melts.

Well couldn’t pass this one up. Pretty much exactly what I wanted. Right gears, locking diff. 2019 Peterbilt 579. Was hoping for something other than white though. I even found a trailer saver for it this evening. Should have lots of time this winter to get the axle out and a deck made for my razor now I just need to sell my old one.
11. I found a new truck I want. So I need to move this one asap. price reduced to $14,500.
12. 2005 387 Peterbilt. C-13 cat. , 13 speed. Changed the rear diff to 308’s. Doesn’t use any oil. Runs great. I have used this truck to pull my camper for the last 12 years. Was a tandem and I singled it. Has a trailer saver air hitch. I can send more pics. These are the only ones I had on my computer right now and it snowing! I am upgrading to a different truck. $20,000 found something I want to buy reduced to. $16,500 NOW $14,500 Truck is sold
