Our T-Mobile plan worked!

We had an ATT plan with 2 I Phone 5's and my wifes phone died completely. We were planning on a couple of months in Canada and so we bought an LG 10 from T-Mobile and 6 gig a month which would roll over if not used.

When we got to Ontario we had 12 gig in hand, our 2 ATT numbers were being forwarded to the T-Mobile number and we had great signals thru various Canadian providers all the way.

After a brief run down to Vermont for Escapade we went back up into Canada again with great reception in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

Back in the US for good we went to the ATT store with the LG 10 having got it unlocked, and they switched it to their system (after some heavy duty research by them to find some settings they had to change).

So now we're back to "Normal" with ATT and very satisfied both with T-Mobile's performance in Canada and ATT's customer service who worked really hard and diligently to get the LG 10 onto their system.

The only problem we had was I installed Google Photo on my laptop and set it to backup my photos which it did every time it found a wireless network. Every time I set the LG 10 up as a hotspot Google Photo drained my data, and there is no off button! I had to uninstall the software to get it to stop!!

My wife and I traveled up to Nova Scotia this past July on our motorcycles. We both have Sprint phones, but I was also trying out a Google Fi phone to see how I liked it that can switch between 3 networks (Sprint, T-mobile, & US Cellular). Sprint & US Cellular are both CDMA networks while T-Mobile of course is GSM. The US is one of the few places that actually uses CDMA wide spread (Verizon of course leads the pack here) and AT&T leads on the GSM side. Although it's not guaranteed, since the phone has all those frequencies between GSM, CDMA, LTE, it can roam even on Verizon & AT&T if they have agreements in those areas.

The Google Fi phone was kind of new to me at the time, so didn't know what to expect but right away I was so happy to have it. Sprint is basically useless in Canada in a lot of places and we didn't turn on any kind of international calling or roaming, so we basically kept our phones in airplane mode unless we had wifi. My Google phone though of course latched on to all the T-Mobile networks throughout Canada and I had amazing coverage. I was even surprised at having service most of the way around the Cabot Trail. One of the great things about Google Fi is the data in Canada is charged at the same rate as if you were in the US with no extra fees and you only pay what you use for. I love streaming music while riding, although I found out Pandora is not available in Canada, I was able to stream our Amazon Prime music which worked great.

We have a Cricket phone that I am currently using in Canada with no problems. Voice and text work great. Wifi when in cgs. We have not been near any major towns so have had no data service the entire trip(going on 1 month) so far. Today we will be in Quebec City and may have data service there.
