no inside hot water

We have a 97 dolphin. We have hot water outside, but none will come out of the faucet. The only valve we see inside at the hot water heater is on. If you turn in, no water will come out. We have changed every faucet in and out. Any suggestion? This is what the outside one looks like.

First of all, welcome to the Escapee forums. We will do our best to help and support you in every way that we are able.

The picture didn't post so doesn't help much but I'll do my best to help. My first question is, are you new to this RV or have you had hot water to the faucets in the past but something now changed to make it stop? I suspect that you are new to the RV and will base my suggestions on that theory until I learn otherwise. If you are looking at the back of the water heater there is probably a bypass system there for use in winterizing the RV in cold weather. The proper alignment of those valves and the number of them varies from one such kit to another. Basically you want the valves now such that cold water goes into the bottom of the Water heater and out of the top. There will also be a bypass line that connects the cold and hot lines that must be blocked by the valves. Some such systems have three valves with one at the inlet one at the outlet and one in the bypass. Others use a check valve in the outlet and have only two valves, inlet and bypass. Still another version has a three way valve in the cold water/bypass connection that diverts water in either direction and a check valve in the hot water outlet.

May I ask how you know for sure that there is hot water inside of the water heater? Have you tried lifting the pressure relief valve of the water heater to see if hot water comes out? If you do this, do so very carefully using some type of protection to avoid being burned by the hot water that exits. If no water comes out, there is probably no water in the water heater tank.

I am hoping that something here is helpful to you but if it isn't do make a new post with further information.

We are new to the rv, and our first time using it. The water is brand new before we bought it. There is only one valve inside the motorhone at the back of tank. We can feel heat off the top of the valve on the brass fitting. Bur if you turn the tge valve handle, not water at all inside then.

Go outside and lift the pressure relief valve and see if hot water comes rushing out. If yes, sounds like a check valve at the back of the water heater. Since you are new to the TV and it sounds like you didn't get a walk through to check atll of the systems, I'm going to suggest you spend the $ and have a mobile tech come and go throught the systems with you. It will be money well spent.

Grab a free photobucket account, put your pictures there and link to them from the forum, it is far less aggravation than trying to put the pictures on the forum site.

No water comes out the hot side. Guess i need to call someone for a walk through! Lol

You are really not giving us much to figure out what your problem is. When you say that you have hot water outside, does that mean that you can get hot water at the outside shower, but not at the kitchen or bathroom sinks? Did you try lifting the water heater relief valve as we have suggested and if so, did hot water come out?

Does what you have look something like this picture, with the only valve at the bottom as shown? If that is the case, the valve handle is shown here in the proper position for water heater use.

It is the atwood one, we can open the valve on that outside, hot water will burn you. The only lever inside at the back of the hot water heater, if we put it in the up and down position, it shuts down all the hot water faucets, no water comes out inside the Motorhome. The shower head outside only has cold water also.

In the picture at the out line where it says hot there is a brass one way valve there. It is stuck shut and u will get no hot water

take a small hammer or similar object and tap this valve litely and it may free up if not remove it and replace and or free up

Is this picture one that shows the valve that you mean?

That lever is the pressure relief valve that we have been speaking of and water coming out does mean that the water heater is full, water is hot, and there is a supply of replacement water. The bypass valve needs to be as I stated in the previous post.

It sounds like your problem may be that you have turned off the water at one of your shower heads, either inside or the outside one and left both hot and cold faucets open. If you do that it will allow the hot and cold to mix and will thus result in only warm water at the faucets .

If you have a shower head like this one and the water is turned off with the push valve shown at the base of the head (silver color) and you fail to close the hot and cold to that head it allows the two water sources to mix and you will get no hot water at any faucet.

There is also a chance that it might be the check valve on the hot water outlet. They can be either brass or plastic.

after reading your Original post I have to ask when u say none? do u mean water in general or just not hot?

you said if you turn "in" the water flow valve NO water will come out ?that tells me that you get water out of the Hot water tap but its not hot water? Please explain a little clearer because if you get actual; water flow weather hot or not its not the one way valve

Do you have water coming out of the hot water faucets? If so, then you have problems with the heating elements and we need to know whether or not you are using propane or electricity for heating. If no water out of the hot water faucets, then it is the check valve at the back of the water heater, unless you turned the outside shower off at the head instead of turning it off using the hot & cold knobs.

It is really important to be as specific as possible about the problem you are having - as you can see we've been all over the place trying to decipher exactly what is going on.

We have water inside and out, just no hot water.

I asked you already and you fail to answer clearly so one more time You GET COLD water from the HOT water Tap? or NO water form the HOT water Tap?

If you are getting water from the faucets with hot only open but the water isn't hot, then I doubt that there is a problem with the check valves but more likely the shower heads are closed with both faucets open, thus allowing the water to mix. I suggest that the first thing you check is to insure that both hot and cold are closed at each of the shower heads inside & out.

We get cold water. Then if we turn the handle at the back of the hot water heater, the hot water side totally stops. But the cold one will still flow.
