Aluminized mesh shade covers

Had the metal ones on the house and they were both fragile and ugly after a bit of wear and tear, replaced with fabric ones I'm a lot happier. On the fiver we put on awnings instead of screens as we got a better view and they were less effort.

When picking fabric you have a lot of choices and trade-offs, dark colors let you see out better but gain more heat, light gain less heat but cut down on the view more. We went with black and 80% light blocking for most windows in the house, a couple that got a lot of sun we did with 90% cloth and that 10% makes a big difference.
