I am trying to put a picture into an for sale item and the system doesn;t like jpg, what format does it want?

I tried the image icon and it wants a URL????

I tried My Media and I have no idea where that is looking.

I tried photobucket and it does copy the link over, but I want a picture.

Also, when I insert links you need to copy them to your browser, can't just click them.

What am I doing wrong????????????????????????

You have to put your picture on a hosting site, such as Photobucket. Then you would use the URL generated from Photobucket to post the picture.

In Photobucket, go to your Library, choose the picture you wish to post, copy the Direct link, click on the Image icon to open the Image window and paste the URL you copied into the appropriate place.

I just did this procedure with the picture shown here. This is a picture of my Lot for Sale in Silver Springs, Florida. To make a link, highlight the words you wish to use as the link, then copy the URL address of the site you wish to link, click on the Link icon and paste the URL Address you just copied into the URL window that opens.

I think I did this. I have the picture on Flickr and it didn't work so I set up a Photobucket account and put the picture there.

This is what I did:

clicked on picture in photbucket

ctrl/c the url

go to my email

go to the image icon

put in the url

all it does is copy the url over

some step must be wrong......................

You don't click on the Picture in Photobucket. You have to open your Library in Photobucket. You will then see three URL's you can copy. Highlight and Ctrl+C the one called Direct. Paste this URL into the Image icon on the Forum. In an email, the procedure might vary for different types of email clients. I had thought you were asking about posting a picture on this Forum. I suppose the procedure in your email client would be similar to the Forum since you have a Image icon.

In most email programs it works very similarly to Outlook from MS, or at least those I have used do. There are two ways to put a picture into and email. You can either send the picture as an attachment, using the attach as file tool or you can insert the picture into the email body using the insert function. If inserting it there is a tab called insert that you must use.

Are we understanding correctly that you want to put the picture into an email? If so, what email program are you using?

I was trying to post a picture to this site. I had a typo regarding email, meant thread, my bad. Frustration reigns..............

After a little more frustration I finally got it to work. I had to turn on an option call "easy link" and then when I put it into the image option in the thread I had to go to the beginning of the url, not just click OK.

Now my next challenge is to get the URL in my For Sale to be clickable.

I had thought my self very computer literate until today. What has happened to the simply ctrl c/ctrl v? or an easy way to point to your picture on your computer and upload it?

Why does only photobucket work? I never heard of this product until today. I looked around Flickr(lightly) and didn't see anything similar.

A more generic approach would be nice......................

Thanks for all the help

Now my next challenge is to get the URL in my For Sale to be clickable.

To do this you simply go to the URL that you wish to attach and highlight that address, use control C to copy it to your clipboard. Return to this forum and then highlight the typed words that you wish to have "clickable." Next go to the top of the composition window and click on the little chain-link image on the bottom line of edit functions. That will open a box titled URL and after placing your mouse pointer in that box, use control V to put the information from your link into it. Click on the "OK" button and it is done. Last, post your ad to the forum.
