Truck Deck Done ready for the season

RickS

Recommended Posts

Well, the long weekend is coming up and we're heading out and have plans most of the summer. I thought I'd post some pictures of the complete setup. Also, a big thank you to Gregg from RV Haulers.ca Gregg and his team did a great job on a very challenging deck build project.

Also, looking forward to meeting up with those attending the WCR and may try to get to the national rally.

HOLY COW!!

Even "Ray Charles" B) can see the beauty in that truck!! I cant even imagine how many people question you on your rig every time you take it out..

I am sure your truck is probably on someone's "you tube", as something cool to see..

Is the Black hard to keep clean???

AWESOME rig, as I have seen many on here already!!

I am keeping notes!! LOL

Few,

No .....?Black is easy to keep clean.......last Weds I washed the ole BLACK Freightshacker........the ole dog looked much better......one hour later...... Little thunderstorm rains 0.06" and two hours the ground is dusty again and all I had to do is.........WASH the ole dog AGAIN.........BLACK is like a five year old boy........it's just going to get dirty period!

We have a Silver Chevy Impalla run-around car and Silver NEVER looks "dirty".......must be why about 7 out of 10 rigs at the stop light are Silver or White.........

We have had a 62 Corvette, Black.........my friends would kill me if I ever changed the color from black so........I just am the "wash-boy"...;actually much of the time I just deep the car cover on the Corvette back in the corner of the shop.......a full-cover for a HDT (or MH) is more work than washing the thing......I guess that's why we are Retired........so we can wash and wax and wash ......and ....and....

Gotta go now.......fill the wash bucket.....

Thanks everyone! I just picked up the truck yesterday and the trailer from sitting over the winter. They both need a wash and black show's every little bit of dirt and dust. Not very forgiving.

Radar,

Yeah, that is a in-motion satellite dish so my DW can relax and watch her shows while going down the road. :)

Really looking forward to getting away and leaving work behind for a little while. :)

Dolly,

I have an 08 "black" Corvette, and I love the car, but I also know that one afternoon spin will equal possible dust when I return.. I couldn't imagine owning a black set up as you do, you are a brave man!!

** BTW, 62 Vettes are BOSS!! A friend of mine (back in my HS days between 79-82), had a 61Vette with triple carbs... But I think the 62 is when the body style sorta changed more towards the 63, and it was the last year of the open headlights?? VERY Classy, indeed sir!!!

LOL... With several black cars I can confirm that black is NOT a color....it is a part time job...

I couldn't agree with you more. :)

Jack,

Thanks for posting the link.

We won't be making it to your area this summer but may catch up with you at the national rally if I can get some more time off work.

The cabinet came from Alum-Line. The box was damaged in transit to me and had to be repaired at my cost because I signed for it and did not notice the damage underneath all the cardboard. Word to the wise don't sign for anything until you fully inspect it first even if the packaging looks perfect. The damage looked to be there before the cardboard was put on. Not a mark on the box to create that kind of damage. Alum-Line would not help me out at all with the damages.

That is an awesome rig! Looks gorgeous.

For you guys with black vehicles (or any color for that matter) get yourselves a Kozak absolutely will not scratch and great for getting dust and light dirt. I first got one when I had my '57 Oldsmobile that had multiple coats of hand rubbed black lacquer, deep, deep shine and the Kozak never left a mark.

For rain spots and heavier dirt Meguiar's Quick Detailer or Final Inspection (pretty much the same thing) will keep the car or truck looking sharp with minimal effort. I kept a string of collector cars show ready with those.

Thanks again!

Dennis.....more like an extension brush soapy water and a rinse. :) Six hours later I'm done. :) I have had many hot rods and custom vehicles and they all seem pretty easy compared to this truck and trailer. Even, my 1-ton dually seems small in comparison. :D

Looks great Rick.

I know that it was a long process from design to order to Gregg completing the body but it looks really sweet. We are hoping to have ours complete by the end of summer so maybe we will see you in Hutchinson.

Safe travels and enjoy the ride!!!
