Hi everyone. After heading to Ajo, Az to see the Organ Pipe Cactus Monument Park-which was great, by the way, we are now in Phoenix for the month. Staying a Dessert Shadows Rv Park. Very nice park, and everyone is so friendly.....staff and residents.

Had a little rain today, but by Thursday the temps should be in the 70's. Yea!!!

If anyone is in the area, give us a holler.

It was great meeting everyone in Q.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, Gordon; and, hello to all 06'ers. Actually, I'm in perfect health...for an 80 year old man! Actually, for a 63 year old, Type 1 diabetic, I'm doing OK (knock on wood). Suzanne & I are having fun playing the penny slots; and, eating way too many buffet meals in Laughlin, Nevada casinos. We are heading to Katherine's Landing Campground in the Lake Mead Nat'l Recreation Area on Monday. It is amazingly beautiful with the sapphire blue lake and rugged mountains all around...all for only $5 per night. It's boondocking again; but, water is only 20 yards away; dump station is only 100 yds away; and, the stars are almost in reach. And, if we stay the full 30 days allowed, we will pay for our slot machine losses. LOL

Keep a tight grip on those pennies!! We are still at Lake Cachuma Regional Park in CA and will be here until leaving for Pismo Beach Village RV Park on the 11th. The stars seem to be in reach here also, and Bodie is enjoying yelling at the raccoons nightly. Barb and Dave O'Keeffe are staying way ahead on the cache count and we really need to get going on our hunt in this beautiful part of the central CA coast.

We're only ahead in the cache count because in Salome, AZ there isn't a whole lot to do - so people have put a lot of caches out in the desert Makes for good exercise as we are trying to work off all of the great potlucks from Q.

 

I don't want to say the area is isolated, but we are getting to meet a lot of RVers in the area under the cell tower down in Hope.

Hello to all my full-timing class of ‘06 graduating homies. Well, It’s the 3rd of February here in South La Posa-East and there’s only 2 die-hard rigs from our class left. Rick and Carol pulled out yesterday morning and Big John and his Cajun Queen, Maureen, plan to leave Monday or Tuesday. The five of us had a great time together. Lots of laughs, and I even got to park my Class C in the front-back forty. I’ll be heading out on my own today.

 

I am just a lonesome cowboy

I ain’t even got a signal

To call my baby on the phone

 

Now ain’t that just pathetic. However, I do plan on hooking up with some of you all over at Dome Hill tonight if I can find you and for sure in Stockton at the Escapade in April. I will be headed South to Yuma in a couple of days and then on to the Slabs before heading back to the Stockton area. Thanks to all for the wonderful fun, food, and friendship. Received word that Yuma was having a renassence festivle this weekend and that my nephew would be in costume. I had to drive down and take pictures!!

 

The fair was fun (Jeff & Suzanne you guys might work up a short play and give a try to this circuit!).

 

Heading back up to Quartzsite on Tuesday (Mike, will you still be there?). Won't stay at La Posa South though, will be north of there and then move on to Parker a couple of days later.

 

Presently at the BLM land by the VFW on 95 just north of Yuma if anyone drives by.

Hi everyone, sorry we haven't been on here much. We moved over to Dome Rock Monday and haven't had the best cell/Internet connection. We purchase a new Wilson cell antenna yesterday and helped a bunch

 

Having a great time in Dome Rock and is beautiful. Mike or anyone else still in the Q area are welcome! If you take exit 11 off I-10, take the first dirt entrance into the camping area. When you come to a split, take the left and follow about a 1/4 mile, we will be about 300 yard off the road to the right (White/green American Dream). We plan to be here till Thursday/Friday.

 

Had a wonderful time meeting everyone and hope to see you again soon!

Hey Steve! Sorry we didn't get to say bye Monday but you pulled out before we got moving in the morning It was a pleasure meeting you and thanks for all the guidance and help (Oh and for the dinner at the VFW)!

We were just in Yuma Thursday and was very nice. Loved all the palm trees and got to filled up with needed supplies (Sam's and Wal-Mart). If you are coming thru Q Tuesday, stop by and see us in Dome Rock! We just posted directions in a previous message.

Guess we will be watching the Super Bowl outside in the 77+ degree weather today ;-) Isn't life grand!

We are now in Yuma at Cocopah RV Resort - our big splurge for the winter. Hope to get in a lot of golf this week. Dave has already found about 100 geocaches to hunt, so know we will be doing some of that as well.

 

Weather is WARM and feels so good on my old bones. I was beginning to think I was never going to get to someplace warm. Finally found it.

100 Geocaches......OH NOOOOOOOO! Tell Dave that he should really spend most of his time playing golf. Our paltry 17 finds plus assorted ticks has us fading into the background up here on the central CA coast!!

 

Enjoy yourselves in Yuma....we had a wonderful thaw ourselves today at 78 deg....Oh, that felt so good!

Good to hear that y'all are havin' such a good time still...we are here at her Thousand Trails at Lake Menden in Nicolus,CA...we will be here 'till about the end of the month...still getting Dr, Dentist, and Eye Dr. stuff done...

 

You bet that it is a great thing that this lifestyle gives us the flexability to do what ever and when ever we want...I think you said that Steve...well, we have already changed-up our future plans...we will be going on I40 across the US of A to get to the center of our country instead of the 10...so we will not make it back to "Q" or Yuma...but we will make it to Louisana...and to Layfayette...coukld someone who sees Big John and his Cajan Queen...please have them e-mail me...I have lost their info...I think they have my card.

 

We have seen lots of the kids and grand kids this past week too...but this comiung week we hope to get some "down" time...sit and sip a cool one and enjoy the quiet...Maybe even try to figure out the Geocashing thingy...who knows...

Well here we are....About to leave Quartzite. We had so much fun with all of you we decided to just stay....Not...We will go to Brenda for some RV work today and then west to the Palm Springs area. We will be in the southern part of California for Feb. Then we plan to head towards Las Vagas and spend most of March in that area, slowly working our way back to LA. the first week of April. That is, if our plans don't change.

 

Charlie, I can't believe you misplaced that expensive business card of ours.....I will send you an E-mail. I think you are right, I-40 looks better for us going back to LA, than I-10 since we will be coming out of Nevada.

I headed down to Yuma today (6 Feb) but only made it to Stone Cabin. I rode all morning in the Dome Rock Area GeoCaching and was too pooped to go on. Anyway, the parking is free and so is the internet. Sorry we missed each other. Take care of yourself.......mike

Hello, I'm the quiet, ex-librarian from Colorado with the black dog who visited the class site at La Posa a couple times (was hooked up at a park in town, since it was so cold then). Just wanted to say that I moved from Q-site to Congress and spent a week at North Ranch. It finally warmed up there too, and it was nice to see so many folks outside walking and on bikes. I'm in Gila Bend tonight, but since my Ford is misbehaving , I have to go back to Buckeye and hope it's not too serious. They've already warned me that my little Born Free is too big for their lift, thanks a lot.

 

It was nice to meet you folks, especially Gordon Pierce, my knight in a dusty truck, who came into town to pick me up and took me back too. I'll try to check on class members' whereabouts- most of us are running around in familiar places. I'm going to the Gypsy Journal Rally in Casa Grande next week- anyone else ?

We will be in Casa Grande next week, but are staying at a Western Horizon park (actually we will be there for 2 weeks.) Do hope to make it over to the Gypsy Journal Rally for one day.

 

Yes, the weather is great - played golf yesterday, 80+ degrees. Hard work, but someone has to do it.

Well...I'd like to day that it was sunny in sunny CA but it isn't today...it has been nice ever since we got here...but for the next 10 days or so we wil be in the rain...

 

I'm not really complaining because they need it so badly...but I would much rather be in the sun at about 75 degrees somewhere...OH Well...

 

It is sure nice hearing about you all and where you are going and what you are doing...

 

We've been visiting family and doctors...oh what fun...We do love to visit the family...but...the Doctors????Oh well it is almost over...

 

We will be leaviong here around the 27th or 28th...that is still our plan today

Hi Homies, I hooked up with Dave and Toni Saturday night at Dome Rock for a fireside chat and for coffee Sunday morning before the big game.

 

Hey Jeff and Suzanne, Good choice on the bikes. I rode Big John’s into town on Friday and it did just fine. Not the best bike in the world but it’s perfect for us old farts and at 100 bucks you can’t go wrong. It’s a fun way to get that dreaded exercise that we all need. I intend to pick one up (with fat butt seat) at the next Walmart I run across. We could designate it the “Official Bike of the Full-Timing Class of ‘06. Maybe I could get Walmart involved with some sort of promotion. Maybe like free RV parking GPS brackets are available too for some brands. It adds a new dimension to GeoCaching.

 

I’m off to Yuma for a few days then to the Slabs. Peace-out all.............mike

Hey fellow graduates---We finally left Q last Friday and made our way back to the Tombstone area. Everyone finally got long, hot baths (including Cheyenne). We've enjoyed this week of sightseeing and will be leaving here on Friday, heading to Yuma. Melvis, where will you be staying in Yuma? Sounds like everyone is having fun, it's nice keeping up with everyone.

 

P.S. While we were in Tombstone we ran into Ciera and her parents. It was nice to see them again. They are heading to Texas...

Hi all...if any of you haven't gotten burned out on boondocking; and, need a stopping place headed west, we highly recommend the Lake Mead Nat'l Recreational Area Parks. Only $5.00/nite with a Golden Age or Golden Access card, $10.00 without. At Katherine Landing, near Laughlin, NV, we have water within 50 yards of our site; dump is 100 yards away. The view of the Colorado River flowing beneath towering mountains (OK, they're not the Rockies) is spectacular. Great place for a graduating class gathering (if one were thinking west). Well, on to Las Vegas in a week and a half.

Hi Everyone!!!

 

Well, I have some new NEWS, which is for a dual purpose.....the first is to let everyone know what has happened since we got the test results showing no more signs of cancer and the second is to see if we can remain as members of the wonderful CLASS OF 2006!

 

HERE'S THE LATEST!!!!

 

During Jim's recovery period, he was offered an opportunity to transfer......if he decided not to retire. Now, you have to understand that Jim is one of those very lucky people that absolutely loves his job. He has been with the Fish and Wildlife Service for 33 years and actually looks forward to going to work every day.

 

Well, when he received the transfer opportunity, he called me and said....."How would you feel about moving to the Key West area and delay retirement for several years?" My response was that of course I would love to live near Key West for a few years, but more importantly, I want to do whatever is going to make him the happiest!!

 

Well, things have happened quickly and after receiving the GOOD NEWS results of his PSA test on Jan. 23rd, he accepted the position on Jan. 24th and since then, the wheels have been spinning. We will be flying down to Key West next week to find a place to live......then we'll come back and will have three weeks to purchase new furniture (since of course we have sold everything we own, in preparation for fulltiming), and we will move the week of March 18th.........that's just FIVE weeks away!!!!

 

Jim will be the Assistant Refuge Manager at Florida Keys Wildlife Refuges which encompasses four different refuges located in the Lower Keys.

 

We will most likely live on Big Pine Key, but all of that will be finalized when we fly down next week on the 'house hunting' trip. I am definitely excited about year round warm weather.....it's 78 degrees there today!!! It was one of our goals in fulltiming - to stay where the weather is warm! And though we are delaying our fulltime plans for a few years, we will always consider ourselves to be part of the Class of 2006, and hope that if any of our classmates make it to the Keys, that you will look us up! When reading the forum, it seems that everyone is on the west coast, but hopefully folks will meander over this way at some point!

 

NOW....If we could just hook up with some other fulltiming folks that are in the process of SELLING their furniture, we could definitely work out a deal!!! LOL

You will always be a part of the class of 2006, so keep posting and let us know how the move is going... We are interested. We have never been to the Florida Keys and hope to visit you there some day.

 

Tell Jim to have some RV hook-ups put in were ever you end up, and I bet you will always have class visitors. he he!... The class will come to you. You can meter us, we won’t mind
