Life on Wheels seminar?

Years ago, the wife and I attended a week long conference / seminar title "Life on Wheels" in Harrisburg, Pa. At the time, we were both many years from retirement. NOW, we are retired and would like to attend another edition to bring ourselves up to date on full time RVing. Does anyone know if these seminars are still going on? I haven't heard anything about them in a long time. I believe they were sponsored by Motorhome Life and Trailer Life.

Thanks for the help,

The "Life on Wheels" programs fell apart pretty quickly, once Gaylord Maxwell passed away back in 2008. The Escapees RV Boot Camp is a similar program that continues today and which covers some of the same subjects. Everyone I know of who have attended are very satisfied.

Other opportunities are the RVSEF RV Technical Education & Safety Conference and the RV-Dreams Education Rally.

These were part of the former Life on Wheels set of classes.

The RVSEF conference focuses more on the technical aspects of RVing and the classes are conducted primarily by industry specialists.

The RV-Dreams Education Rally involves a comprehensive coverage of Full timing topics classes are mostly taught by Howard and Linda Payne who have been full time RVing for about a decade.

Are you sure of this? I know several of the folks who were staff for the Life on Wheels and none of them are involved in either of these. I'm not saying that they aren't good, only wondering about any connection. I do know the RVSEF has a good history of quality support for RV safety but most of their programs are seminars at RV shows and rallies. I believe that they are also "not for profit."

AFAIK, neither Walter Cannon nor Howard Payne was ever directly involved with LOW as instructors. There were instructors who offered courses on RV weight safety and there were people who offered 4-corner rig weighing, a couple of times through what was called "A Weigh We Go"; I believe this was a forerunner to the current RVSEF organization.

One instructor who was involved with LOW and currently offers classes for other clubs/organizations is Mac McCoy; his fire safety class is excellent and highly recommended.

The classes done by RV-Dreams cover a lot of the novice RV items. And have the added benefit of a very social gathering. I highly recommend them.

The RVSEF stuff is more technical in nature, as Trey indicated. BOTH are valuable for novices. I thought that both RVSEF and Howard and LInda did teach as part of the Life on Wheels in their later days, but Rosita is indicating differently.

RVSEF provided instructors, supported, and honored the work of Gaylord Maxwell. Walter Cannon, RVSEF Director as well as other RVSEF instructors participated as instructors for various classes at Life on Wheels for many years. Howard and Linda taught at Life on Wheels in 2006.
