  2. Wrong forum, you'll have more views in RV's for sale.
  3. All of the 3 heating methods require a chimney to cool the heat transfer coils on an absorption refrigerator. This limits your choice to a strictly DC residential-type fridge, as Glenn suggested.
  4. Thanks to everyone who responded. Apparently, I was wrong about Progressive not letting us use the truck bobtail. I was told today that I can. So one of the following three people were wrong. 1) The Progressive agent I spoke to last time I asked. 2) The Progressive agent I spoke to today. Or more likely, it was myself. Maybe it was National General Insurance (?) that we had previously that didn't want us bobtailing. I have not read the policy yet, but Erika Neil of McGriff Insurance, who I spoke to today, seemed to know what she was talking about. Thanks again, Jim
  5. I'm with Auto Owners and they have no issue with bob-tail operation. I live in in Wisconsin.

  7. In your given order here is the route you'd take and you won't have any issues on any of the roads. I-40 can be rough but it's the best way for you to go. : Hot Springs, AR to Monument Valley: I-40 west to Gallup, NM then 264/191/163 to Monument Valley To Sedona: Backtrack to Gallup, NM then I-40 west and south on I-17 to 179 into Sedona. (You could stay on I-40 and pick up 89A into Sedona but you should read about it first. It would be a steep, curvy downhill but very doable with your RV. We've done it with our 40' MH) Sedona to Petrified Forest - back on I-40 east to Holbrook. Take 180 south a short distance to the Petrified Forest Gift Shop (could spend an overnight here and tour the NP Rd with your truck & return to the RV. Travel the road fully and it will take you to the end at I-40 again. There are places on the park road to explore. To Arches: East on I-40 to 191 north To Mesa Verde NP - 191 south to 491 to CO 160 Mesa Verde to Albuquerque - 160 east to Durango (worth a stop and even a drive up to Silverton in your truck which is awesome! (We've boondocked up there a lot with our 40' MH). You could even pre-arrange for the Durango to Silverton train for a day excursion. From Durango take 550 to Albuquerque.
  8. do we need to travel to florida to renew our florida driver license?
  9. Thank you. I appreciate your response, but the trip is already planned. I have reservations at each stop.
  10. Please give your starting point and exactly what parks/areas you plan to stop... ending where? Then we would be able to give you a good route.
  11. In contact with Vern. He's crawling over the pallets of parts, looking for treasure. He reports many new parts, still in boxes, with part numbers. Even found a Volvo wire harness, but I don't have the part numbers for it. Anyone looking for truck parts or a project truck should be hitting the auction website.
  12. They have a pretty good staff on their Help Desk - click on the "Contact Us" button anyswhere on the page and someone will respond quickly. Everyone on the Help Desk is a user, and an RV traveler, so they are pretty knowledgeable.
  13. Was able to schedule written and skills on the same day only five days head of time. Did written in Columbus at 9am and skills in Angleton at 1pm. I studied both sections 6 and 14, but Columbus didn't make me take Combinations test. Had issues getting the details right with both locations, but got it worked out easily since I was well educated from this thread. I mostly relied on free practice tests. Only read the handbook sections once. I missed four of 20 so I barely passed. Two questions I probably could have got right had I read more carefully. The other two were questions that the free practice tests didn't cover at all. The practice site I liked the best was dmv-permit-test.com. My wife is going to take the test soon so I just paid the $35 so she has all four practice tests they offer and hopefully she won't get surprised by any questions on the test. Columbus said they can do the skills test too but you have to schedule in person for some reason. They made me show proof of my social security # even though I had a Real ID drivers license and a passport. They were really nice ladies up there, I'd definitely go back. They were just a little inexperienced with non-CDL class A. Angleton skills test went smoothly. The most difficult part was actually getting my 45' trailer behind the building to the point where the test starts. For non-CDL they make you have you go to the same place are regular car tests. I have a horse trailer with Living which has axles way in the back. There was literally no way for me to get back to the start point without driving over curbs. The actual skills test was easier than I expected. They're definitely looking to pass you if they can.
  14. How are you going to vent it? Every outdoor kitchen I've seen has a door over the front, and backs onto interior space.
  15. We are long-term at Aberdeen Proving Ground just north of Baltimore off I-95. We always take I-695 west around the west side of Baltimore... it increases our travel time by 20 minutes vs. the other routes. US-1 and US-40 are a maze of stop lights (especially 40 - though we use it for local travel all the time). That would add a lot more time than going around the west loop. Rob
  16. A more sensible route would be Pet Forest->Sedona->Monument Valley->Mesa Verde->Arches
  17. Thank you for your service. Total of five weeks. Leaving from SC then heading to Missouri for the eclipse. After Missouri, onto Hot Springs, AR for a few days then to: Monument Valley > Sedona > Petrified Forest NP > Arches > Mesa Verde NP > then heading home. The trip is already baked regarding reservations for camping and any of the national parks that needed reservations such as Arches entry.
  18. When do you plan to start your trip and how long will you be spending on the total trip?
  19. I agree seems like an odd trip plan, zing-zagging around. Maybe look at a map and plan a more direct route. Roads are generally good but in that section of the country expect steep grades. Reserve Mesa Verde tours online well ahead of arrival or you will be disappointed. Arches will be very crowded and hotter than Hades. Get there as early as you can to avoid the heat and take twice as much water as you think you need. They lock the gates at Arches when the max number passes thru.
  20. While I've not done that, it shouldn't be very difficult to do. If you look under the RV there should be an iron pipe that carries the propan from the location of the propane bottles and regulator back to very near the current propane appliances. I would tee into that with more iron pipe to get next to the location of the new refrigerator. I'd just supply it with propane in the same way as the trailer manufacturer did with what is there now. You do need to use propane rated pipe dope and such.
  21. Silverado 2500 Hemi Z71. I do not have a copy of the mountain directory. I will look into it. Thank you.
  22. Which Diesel? We have traveled in all those areas several times towing a 34' travel trailer with a 3500 Silverado with the larger Diesel engine. There are some roads like the road through Oak Creek Canyon to Sedona that are not very good choices for long wider rigs. I suggest you get a copy of the mountain directory if you do not already have one. It gives good descriptions of the grades on many roads.
  23. Thank you. I appreciate it.
  24. Sedona to Arches to Mesa Verde to Albuquerque? That covers a lot of roads. I used to tow a 34' fifth wheel with a Geo Tracker behind it through all that country you're talking about with no problems. I towed with Chevy Duramax. While you're in the area, might as well go to Silverton, Durango, Wolf Creek Pass, etc. Your rig will breeze through those places.
  25. Hi Folks, We will be heading to Mesa Verde, Sedona, Arches and other points. From Mesa Verde will be heading to Albuquerque. Trailering a 27-foot with a Silverado Diesel. We would like to know how the roads are out there for travel/trailering? Any roads to avoid? Thank you!
  26. With State Farm I can bobtail or pull other trailers as long as I'm not getting paid.
