Mark this is a "heads up"! When I attempted to go to irv2.com this appeared:

This community is currently offline while we investigate issues caused by hackers.
We have re-routed all traffic to this page where we will be posting updates.

Some issues were brought to our attention by members including warnings of malware and redirection to other sites. We quickly investigated and found that an exploit in some of the software we are using allowed a hacker to load unfavorable code to our servers. In an effort to minimize damage we opted to shut everything down while we investigated the issue and formulated a game plan. Our team (server admins, programmers, and software vendors) coordinated and develope a plan to remove the malicious files and secure the servers.

While the service interruption was unfortunate, it was important to to us to make sure that this was fully addressed before returning to business as usual. We want to protect our community from this kind of intrusion and believe that member safety is paramount. Thanks for understanding

Wondering how to get around this?

Need help using quotes

I know how to reply to a post and use a quote of the that post by using the reply button at the bottom of that post. But I can't figure out how to quote only a part of a post or how to quote one part and then add a comment and then quote another part and then add a second comment.

Also, and completely different, how do I get an email of a new post to a thread that I have not replied to?

Trouble posting a PM

I have had difficulty posting PMs in the past week or so and again today. The appropriate PM page comes up, my log-in name shows, and the message box appears. When I try to send the message, I get an error message saying that I'm not logged in and the message has disappeared. (No, it's not in the "hold" box.) I log in again and attempt to send the PM; now it tells me that I can't send another PM until X date and time! What's going on!?

For some reason this forum doesn't appear to allow me to "subscribe" to specific threads, only to Forums for *all new threads.*

With all the other gearhead, homeschooling, blogging, etal forums have the ability to subscribe to each and (potentially) ever thread seperately. I can't figure out how to make this foums let me do this. When I have tryed to select threads over the last 2-3 months it gives some "sorry... an error occured as you have already subscibed to this forum" kind of message in a yellow-ish headed to show up at the top of a message header.

I have been getting quotes on my replies. I just posted where a person asked about starting a blog. I wrote a reply and a quote from Nick Russel was on my post. Now Nick is smarter than I am and his reply was better, but I did not want it on my post as a quote. Why is this happening? What am I doing wrong?

Search Flood Control?

When I pop in I like to hit 'view new posts' to see all has been going on since last I was here. Lately (last few months) it seems like 9 times out 10 I get a search flood control message. I understand that would be needed periodically but it seems like now only very rarely am I able to use the 'view new posts' function.

Forum Subscription emails problem

We had a problem that occurred over the weekend where the forum stopped talking to the outgoing email server. If you haven't been getting topic and PM notification emails for a couple of days, that's why. I fixed the problem, so now emails should be going out again. Sorry for any inconvenience!

For folks who registered for the forum over the weekend... that's why the validation emails were not being sent. If you are still waiting for validation, just click on the "contact forum admin" link at the bottom of any forum page and let us know... we'll manually validate you so you can post.

I tried to change my Avatar to a different picture. I sized the new pic at 100x100 and that made it about 9kb. The new pic shows in My Contols as my updated Avatar and is 100x75? But, the real problem is that the new pic does not show up as my Avatar next to my posts, but rather the old pic-Avatar is still there and has been distorted in size. Any ideas?

Bookmarks/Favorites all say Escapees RV Club

This post isn't really about the forums, it's about the Escapees web site. But I didn't know where else to request an improvement.

When a user Bookmarks most links on the Escapees website, the name of the saved link will be "Escapees RV Club". Exceptions include the Co-op sites, CARE and the forums.

So for example, if I save links for Satellite Waivers, Texas Voting, Domicile-Residence, On-Line Guide, Escapade, HOP, Overnight Parking, and each of the BOFs that interest me, I end with everything bookmarked. But the name displayed for every bookmark is "Escapees RV Club".

RVNetwork becoming slower?

Hi Y'all

Have any others noticed that rvnetwork.com is becoming slower, from time to time, to download these forum pages??

I am seeing a lot of 'Waiting For..." messages on the status line of my browser and it seems to me that I wait a long time (at times) for messages to load. Although it might be my connection, I don't think so as not all forums I read on a daily basis seem to act this way.

Cookies and log-in

This may have been addressed, but I couldn't find it. I've always had the settings that allow me to stay logged in to the site so that I don't have to go through the login process every time. I've recently switched to a new computer with Vista but am still using Firefox. I have cookies enabled in Firefox. But I'm no longer able to stay logged in -- every time I leaved the forum site I have to login again to get back on (actually, I can still see the forum but all the "new since last visit" things are inoperative, etc.). Also, I'm using the Kaspersky Anti-Virus program, which is new, but I don't think it affects cookies etc. (actually I can't swear to it, since I don't really completely understand all the aspects of this program, which is completely new to me). I would have assumed that enabling cookies in Firefox would be enough -- is there something else I have to do?

Yesterday, I made a short post that was time-stamped 8:30 PM and quickly edited it. Today I noticed a system appended message added to my post of yesterday : "This post has been edited by Dan Zemke: Yesterday, 08:30 PM".

Nobody benefited from the appended text in the above example. I'd prefer that edits that are quickly made not have any system-appended message. To me, "quickly" would be something like within 10 minutes or before someone else posts.

Request: Please change this so quick edits do not result in a system generated message appended to the post.

I noticed today that there are no copies of the Private Messages I've sent. I click on the Sent folder and its empty.

What am I doing wrong?

Is the only way to have a copy of PMs that I send, to add my Escapees name to the Carbon Copy box?

That seems kind of counter-intuitive and an unnecessary extra step but I'll start doing that if its necessary.

But I thought I'd post first and see if I've missed something.
