My brother got home Tuesday and my Dad passed that night. I did not expect him to go so quickly based on what Dad told me just Sunday. So, we'll be going home next week for the memorial service. Those of you who pray, please, do so for my step-mother; she won't be able to live alone so she has a lot of decisions and work in front of her since she's lived in that house for somewhere around 60 years.

Linda

Linda -  So sorry to hear of your Dad's passing.  Our thoughts and prayers are definitely with you and your family.  We're also wishing you safe travels.  I understand the step-mother as we went through that with Terry's mom after his dad passed.

Toni, sorry to hear about your dad.  Prayers for you and Doug.

Linda, sorry to hear about your dad too.  I was in the hospital (hip surgery) when my mom passed away and I couldn't get to see her one last time either.  Prayers for your mom getting settled.

Thanks everyone. We'll be heading down a week from today. Sure wish we had one of our RVs to make the trip in. Motels are no longer fun places to stay and my brother and his daughter have already claimed the guest rooms in the house. Which is the right thing but still mean a motel instead of an RV.

Hi friends,  I may literally be putting the horse before the cart but as we are starting to look at motorhomes, we would like to know where to find a list of the best vehicles to tow four wheels down.  Not too small but definitely not a pick up.  Suggestions please.

Everyone you ask is going to have a different suggestion based on their own preference. The range is huge from Hondas to Jeeps to numerous other vehicles.  It depends a little what you like.and what the motorhome will pull.  Start looking and do research before you buy.  FMCA puts out a list based on year of vehicle.

Toni - Jeri is spot on. Jeep's are easy to set up and tow but if you aren't going to do much off road driving a small car might be best. Make sure what ever you decide is towable.

We just bought a 2007 Ford F-250 King Ranch crewcab diesel pickup yesterday. It has just less then 68k miles on it. We kept the old Jeep. LOL.

Travel safe everyone.

Jeff, it must take quite a bit to tow a jeep.  I see you bought a truck so you can tow the Jeep while it's not hooked to the motorhome!

What "we" own, of course. Whichever "we" you may be talking to at the time.

Our 2010 Honda CR-V already has a base plate installed in case you think you might want to buy it. :)

Hi Tony

We've towed a Jeep Liberty and a Honda CRV both 4-wheel down!  The Jeep got terrible gas mileage when sightseeing.  Both were easy to hookup.  In my opinion, 4-wheel down is a must.  I wouldn't want to deal with a dolly.

Good Luck

The plan for this summer is the motorhome will tow the race car trailer and Tina will follow in the truck. The Jeep gets to rest.

I haven't posted in a while,,  When we were at Pilot Knob the 19th of Feb Delcie had a heart attact Lucky we were at Yuma where they have a great hosp. and Cardilogest. She was in ICU on a ventilator for five days and in the hosp. five more, then in rehab for five more. Even tho she was weak we did make the Escapade. We enjoyed time with Terry and Jeri and Jeff and Tina, we are now at our homebase at Paducah Tx. Delcie is weak but doing well. We did have to give  up our camp host job in Colo. because of the altitude. Don't know how much traveling we will do for a while. Maybe we will get a NM state parks pass and spend the summer checking them out. Hopeing everyone is well and having fun.

So glad to get an update from you.  We were wondering how Delcie was doing.  It was certainly great getting together in Tucson.  Relax this summer and tell Delcie to get better.  We're hoping to see both of you next year.

Thanks for the update and glad to hear that Delcie is doing better. Those higher altitudes are hard on people with heart or lung issues. We have to be real careful where we go because of Jim. We plan to be in NM in May but I suppose that is too early for you guys to be there. Life is good Freddy.

Sorry to hear about Delcie, that is scary business.  Glad she is on the mend. She'll have to watch out for the wild night life in Paducah for a while.  Hugs for you guys!   Steve
