Get,an o-ring kit and replace the o-ring yourself. You will be able to tell if it is nicked. Then find an independent shop to vacuum and recharge the system. Then have them sniff for a bad line. Much less than $1200. If you were close to Plainview, tx we could do it as I have the vacuum pump and o-rings.

The aftermarket o-rings failed, and they switched to the Volvo original to make it work.  Yes, this is something I can now do myself.  But if it fails again in the next yr, Volvo gets to do it!

Don't feel bad. I have spent more time money and effort on the AC system on this Freightliner than any other part of the truck except the re manufactured engine. 

The incompetence out there is something to behold. And just plain lies....
