Snalajxb565 Posted May 10, 2017 Report Share Posted May 10, 2017 Hey all, my family of 4 is looking for a place in San Diego this Summer from July 1 to Sept 1. Any recommended locations, or sites would be great. We have a 25 footer travel trailer and no pets. Kids are 6 and 5. We are officially full time at the end of June and have been using our trailer part time for a year. I know San Diego prime time is summer but was hoping someone hear had some insights. Jane D Posted May 11, 2017 Report Share Posted May 11, 2017 Two years ago we stayed at Sweetwater Summit Regional Park in Bonita and loved it. Everything was very clean and well maintained. I think the park is relatively new. They have a very nice splash park and playground. I don't know if there are stay length limits. Monaco Larry Posted May 19, 2017 Report Share Posted May 19, 2017 If you are an Elk, there are a few lodges in the San Diego area that have RV spaces at a reasonable rate. If you plan on doing very much traveling, the Elks can be a great option in your travels. butchkaren Posted June 7, 2017 Report Share Posted June 7, 2017 Just saw you post, We grew up in San Diego,( Lakeside, Ramona, Alpine) and while we stay for free at my sisters, there are some great places to stay. I second Santee Lakes, although it may be to late to get a reservation. The YMCA facility is very close, and with the pass option is very reasonable. Wonderful swimming and summer programs for the kids. Another option is to look at RV/ trailer parks in Descanso, Pine Valley, Crest, Alpine, Harbison Canyon, and Ramona. They do have a nice KOA in Chula Vista and plenty to keep the kids busy. Lots of tall, shady trees yet still have the 14' clearance. Not big on KOA's generally, but this is a nice one with large spaces. Chula Vista RV Resort is also very nice and right on the bay. We drove it just today. Plenty for kids to do there, also. A bit smaller spaces but very well maintained. Pala Casino RV Resort....spent three nights there last weekend. It's about 50 miles from San Diego, very wide streets.....spaces as big as 24'x60', only a year old. Of the beaten path, a couple hundred yards from a large Indian casino and hotel. Twotoes Posted September 25, 2017 Report Share Posted September 25, 2017 I lived in San Diego for 35 years before I went full time including 7 years in Santee and could see Santee Lakes from my back yard. Santee Lakes is a very nice camp ground if you can get in. In 5 yrs of RVing I have never been able to get a reservation. When I stayed at the KOA there was a Navy family living there with kids. They have a pool and playground area for the kids. Chula Vista RV Resort is good but expensive. There is also Mission Bay Rv Resort also expensive. Camp land by the Bay is very expensive and very crowded but the kids will love it. The Elks Lodge in Chula Vista and El Cajon are just a parking lot with electric hookup. The Oceanside Elks has full hookup but is also just a parking lot. Sweet water park in Bonita is very nice and inexpensive but I believe it may have a two week limit not sure.
