Planning on boondocking in central Oregon with our 2 grandsons and their parents for the eclipse.  We should have 1.5 to 2 minutes of total eclipse where we can take off our solar viewing glasses during the total eclipse duration.

Links to info about 2017 Solar Eclipse:

NASA, General info site

Detailed info about path of the Eclipse through the US.  Click on the state and then on the small image of the state for a detailed view of the path through the state.

Be sure to buy Solar Viewing glasses.  I bought mine here for about $1.50 to $4 each, depending on the quantity ordered.  Free shipping.  The glasses arrived within a few days of placing the order.

RV guide to the 2017 total eclipse has a partial state/area listing of campgrounds in the path of the eclipse. We will be near Clarksville TN. Viewing safety glasses are required, or #14 tint welding glass. Viewing glasses are available free from 2017solar.com

This state-by-state listing may help locate a spot for ideal viewing.

We're planning on boondocking at a place in Idaho we've stayed at before.  We're just hoping it won't be jammed cheek-to-cheek with others who have the same idea!

I am assuming any easy to find and get to boondocking spots will be pretty busy for the eclipse.  I figure we will just put up with the noise and lots of people around.  Just like being in a busy campground on a holiday weekend.

I am planning on us getting to a boondocking spot about 7-10 days before the eclipse to be sure we have the spot we want for our son, DIL and grandson's and whoever comes with them to enjoy.
