Volvo D13 Questions

Hello all.

I'm currently looking at a 2012 D13 powered Volvo that I am very interested in.  I-Shift with 687k miles.  It's had a couple "major" repairs in it's history since new (have the records) and I wanted to bounce a few of these off the knowledge base here to see if there are any red flags with these:

3/14 345k miles - New Injectors due to a misfire under load.
2/15 456k miles - DEF pump and harness replaced due to check engine code.
4/15 468k miles - Water Pump and one EGR cooler replaced due to both leaking.
11/15 533k miles - New injectors due to hard starting, New Radiator and CAC because of leaks, new exhaust flex pipe due to leak, power divider pinion leak and trans oil/filter change.
9/16 635k miles - New DPF Harness and DPF differential pressure sensor because of melted wires.

It's at a reputable dealer (well known to the forum) and I believe they can be trusted.  I'm just looking to see if any of these items would require further digging on the part of a potential purchaser. They seem at face value to be fairly routine and common problem/fixes.  I wonder if the original replacement of the DPF harness was done wrong and this caused the melting necessitating the second replacement.

Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Well depending on price, that does not sound like a bad Mx history at all.  Sounds like possibly a mechanic that liked to throw parts at a problem in hopes of curing it (Injectors), but nothing bad.

With that said, there may be other components, such as starter, alternator, etc. that would be coming up to the end of thier normal life cycle.

if you are serious, I highly recommend National Inspection Service, an oil analysis and a Dyno test.

Another big ticket item, if it hasn't been done already, would be the I-Shift oil change which is due at 500K I think. I got our dealership to do that as part of the deal.

Those are a lot of significant issues.  2010-2012 most companies were still "learning" the 2010 emissions game.  Price, condition, and equipment list would drive my decision... in that order.

The Trans oil was changed at 533k miles.

With some off-line assistance form some members and a couple expert friends, I decided to put a deposit on the truck.  Pending oil labs, independent inspection (NIS), dyno run and my own final inspection.

Many hurdles yet, far from a done deal, but we're on the way.

Then to single short, ET Sr., Direct-Link...

Inspection happens Tuesday.  Oil samples taken today.

I should have results for both by the end of the week...

Another teaser...
