Screw into slideout floor?

I'm considering a modification on my 2003 Bounder; replacing the forward seat of my dinette with cabinet/shelves for storage. The dinette is screwed into the slideout floor, and of course I'd want to attach the cabinet to the floor.... it wouldn't be directly against the wall, but I'll spare you the whole plan for now.

Best I can tell from lifting the edge of the carpet, the floor is just plywood, and I should be able to screw something in without much worry. Does that sound right? Just pre-drill through the carpet and use the same length screw? How thick is the plywood likely to be?

On the slide out, hopefully at least 5/8th. And of course you don't want to go all the way thru. With the slid out, can you lift the edge of the carpet that is on the slide to get a look at actual thickness?

You might also try a call to Fleetwood with your year and model, they maybe able to confirm the thickness of the flooring for you, as I suspect it is pretty standard across much of their model line up.

Best of luck to you,

Thanks. I can get a peek in the corner, but'll take a little more work to see the thickness. In any case, I'll have the existing dinette screws to go by, but I haven't been able to get one out yet.

At this point, I'm still confirming feasibility, but it sounds like it should work.

My couch is secured to the slide room floor with brackets & screws. Your thought of using same length screws is right.
