Amateur Radio BOF - 2017 57th Escapade in Tucson, AZ

Tom - W3TOM & Debbie - KA3VNF SKP# 85757

With over 75 Hams expected to attend this year’s 57th Escapade in Tucson, AZ, the Amateur Radio BOF will be active again at this year with daily 2 Mtr nets every morning at 0745 hours on 146.550 MHz (simplex) sharing news and updates.

Be sure to announce yourself on 146.550 MHz (simplex) when you arrive at the Escapade and share in the camaraderie.

To improve communications among us, a new feature this year is the Amateur Radio BOF UHF Repeater on 444.500 MHz + (127.3 HZ). The repeater is already in operation on the grounds of the Escapee. This UHF repeater has excellent penetration into all of the buildings while offering full quieting coverage utilizing handheld radios throughout the fairgrounds. Testing of the repeater this morning demonstrated about 10 miles of coverage around the fairgrounds including north to Camping World, Wally World and the TTT Diner.

A special events station showcasing Amateur Radio is planed to operate during the Escapade from “The ROW” under the special 1X1 callsign of K7E.  For more information check into the morning 2 Mtr Nets on 146.550 MHz (simplex) and check the Escapade Bulletin Board for an announce of the time and place for our informal SKP Amateur Radio BOF Meeting “Brown Bag Lunch” complete with Amateur Radio demonstrations and outstanding door prizes.

An Escapade one hour introduction to Amateur Radio Seminar entitled “Fun RVing with Amateur Radio for Personal and Emergency Communications” by keynote speaker Tom Abernethy, W3TOM, is planned for Thursday at 10:00 AM and will include the latest Ham Radio news updates. Please plan to attend.

Please feel free to volunteer to help with any of our activities including picking up net for a net session or supplying a demonstration during our Brown Bag Lunch Meeting or offering suggestions of additional actives you would like to see happen. We will need help building the special Events Station K7E and operating on the air from the ROW

See you at the 57th Escapade!
