The Ultimate Public Campgrounds Project database includes many fairgrounds as well as city and county parks. The icons on the map based version I use is based on ownership/management so for example the CP symbol which means County Park may be a fairground or a park with a campground. Details are provided when you click on the icon.

Both of these helped a lot. Hint about Allstays and I forgot all about Ultimate website. So many websites for cgs and each one had a similar but different collection. I would love to have a super website with every cg listed. That is just wishful thinking on my part.

...I would love to have a super website with every cg listed...

While not a website, I still use a version of Streets and Trips on my laptop (running Windows 10). It came with the Woodall's campground database built in. To that I added downloads from the POI Factory, the Discovery Owners Forum, USCAmpgrounds, the Ultimate Public Campground Project and other sources. I can even add in campgrounds that we discover in our travels that are not listed elsewhere. This resource has served us well and continues to do so even though Streets and Trips is no longer updated. I find that not needing an internet connection can be helpful when on the road or in areas with no data service (which we seem to have a knack for finding).

I also use Streets and I have forced myself to use Base Camp on a minimal level, enough to map me a route for 1 day. I still prefer Streets and use that mostly. In the past I have downloaded the data from POI Factory and the Datastorm(???) group into Streets and it worked well. I am just looking for a secondary site to confirm(or add to) what info I have. One never knows when you will need it. I only plan 1 day out when we travel. If i don't have internet between the books I have and Days End I am well covered.

I have stayed at fairgrounds before but for some reason am getting more interested in them and casinos. Maybe the cost of cgs going up is nudging me in that direction. Just following my instincts.

I'm old school. Look at map, determine the county, google county or 4H fairgrounds. Have found lots of small ones that were quite nice

As one travels, they develop a system that works for them. When we are traveling between destinations and only looking for an overnight, I do not want to go more than 10 miles from my route of travel with 5 miles or less preferred. For this reason, I prefer map driven programs or websites where I can see the relation of potential stops to my route.

Because we often travel on the Blue Highways and do not have a cellular amplifier in the truck, connecting to the internet on the move with the signal coming and going makes things like Google searches and online apps frustrating.

Since fairgrounds are often relatively low cost, I have found the Free Campsites website to be another useful online tool in finding those that have campgrounds or allow overnights.
