Dollytrolley
So we escaped Oregon a few weeks ago just before the snow and freezing rain hit and settled in to Dolly-the-paint-horse camp at Last Chance Peak East of Death Valley and North of Pahrump and all has been fairly peaceful....until today....We had a camp invader... As head stable boy and horse waste engineer I am way too busy most days to do the retirement thing and on top of that I am the chief of camp security so any breach of camp defenses gets me in big trouble.....so... It's a bright sunny morning and I am doing my stable boy thing and I hear a sound and after too many thousand hours of having aircraft in my ears it takes a fair sound for me to hear it......the sound seems to be a tap tap this thud coming from the Dollytrolley and being a Freightshaker it tends to make a lot of sounds but it is usually pretty soundless when it is parked like it was this morning. So...as any chief of camp security would do when Alerted .....I became armed with my weapon of choice in horse camp....I firmly grasp the .....Manure Fork and slowely crept around the front of the Dollytrolley in the defense crouch position with the "Weapon" ready to strike ... as I rounded the corner of the passenger side it happened...the camp invader struck out with lightning speed that made a rattlesnake strike seem like slow motion.... he /she/it charged me so fast that only the extended Manure Fork was able to fend off the attack....As any seasoned security specialist will tell you it pays to have the proper weapon when being attacked at close range and the 357 mag could never come close to the security of the Manure Fork at the close range of this attack. Being rather startled by the ferocious attack I quickly retreated to hopefully allow the attacker space to reconsider his actions and perhaps escape. ....however the attacker simply glared at me for a moment and then turned around in a flash and started beating on the Dollytrolley again... Well what would you do if a crazed attacker was thumping on your old Freightshaker....well I don't get paid enough these days to defend a old Freightshaker much....so I backed away and let the crazy Roadrunner peck away at the reflected Roadrunner in the polished front wheel..... Trust me I am pretty fierce with a Manure fork but.....no match for that lightning fast BIG Sharp Pecker on a Roadrunner....way above my pay-grade... Drive on....(walk softly and carry a big Manure fork) 97 Freightshaker Century Cummins M11-370 / 1350 /10 spd / 3:08 /tandem/ 20ft Garage/ 30 ft Curtis Dune toybox with a removable horse-haul-module to transport Dolly-The-Painthorse to horse camps and trail heads all over the Western U S

rickeieio
So, I just spit my first sip of coffee on my keyboard. Road runners aren't always too bright. Last winter I had one attack the front wheel of my BMW, while I was going about 70 mph. DW report that a cloud of feathers and "stuff" came streaming back, and she was following........ Roadrunner guts are hard to scrape off after they've baked on a hot motor. Luckily, you kept your manure fork relatively clean. Alie&Jim's Carrilite
On a work site we camped on for several weeks, a Robin fell in love with us..... or actually fell in love with the bugs that would stick in the morning dew on the side of the trailer. Every morning at sunrise, tap, tap, tap, pause and tap, tap, tap,... By 7:30-8:00 it would fly to its nest until the next morning. Dollytrolley
You need to call a Coyote for additional guidance and direction to gain the upper hand on this bird.Good advice.... sorta..... when mentioned calling in the local Coyotes , wife just grinned and said...."oh ya, just like you...you call in a loser to deal with a smart fast bird...ask your self....the only one wacked with the Coyote schemes was......the Coyote....." Ouch....I better get busy using the Manure Fork like a good stable boy and steer clear of the Roadrunner..... I did put the tire covers on and the rest of the Dollytrolley is plain enough to not tick off the Roadrunners...... Drive on.....(watch where you point the Manure fork....) 97 Freightshaker Century Cummins M11-370 / 1350 /10 spd / 3:08 /tandem/ 20ft Garage/ 30 ft Curtis Dune toybox with a removable horse-haul-module to transport Dolly-The-Painthorse to horse camps and trail heads all over the Western U S
