Wellmark pulls out of South Dakota in 2017

Recommended Posts

Right after changing their long-standing policy of not insuring RVers with mail-forwarding addresses in SD to accept them, Wellmark Blue Cross has just announced this week to completely pull out of the individual market in SD in 2017.

Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield announced Tuesday that it will narrow its choices for individual Affordable Care Act plans in Iowa and will eliminate ACA individual plans in South Dakota altogether in 2017.

This leaves Avera as the only ACA option in SD...but they also do not want RVers anymore...stating that they believe their plans are a "not a good fit for RVers" (to which I agree).

Because Avera PPO plans don't have nationwide networks, right?

Yes, we are in the same boat. BCBS dropping everyone. We are still deciding on what to do. Truck sells we will just become Arizona residents. It doesn't do we become Texas residents? Would like to stay SD, still looking for ideas.

Forget about TX, AZ, and SD . . . there aren't nationwide ACA PPO plans in any of these states.

Check out FL . . . BCBS has ACA EPO plans with nationwide networks there.
