scouserl41
We called the NS/PEI ferry this morning 8/21/16 and they have a ship out of service. Commercial trucks have priority so they may not allow RV's on. Don't know how long this will last so call ahead to check. Darryl&Rita
Except the bridge and the ferry dock are in different provinces. Little over 2 hours between them. I have been wrong before, I'll probably be wrong again. 2000 Kenworth T 2000 w/N-14 and 10 speed Gen1 Autoshift, deck built by Star Fabrication 2006 smart fourtwo cdi cabriolet 2007 32.5' Fleetwood QuantumPlease e-mail us here. docj
Except the bridge and the ferry dock are in different provinces. Little over 2 hours between them. For most tourists the good news is that the bridge is more centrally located near the major tourist attractions. The ferry port on PEI is in the southeast "corner" of the island, well away from where most tourists spend their time. We happen to enjoy the quiet of the East side of the island and last year we were headed to Cape Breton Island NS so the ferry made sense for our departure, but for most people I think the bridge is a better bet anyway. With the ferry there is the queuing in line time plus the 75 minute transit time plus the unloading time; I think if you compare all of that with the drive time, it's probably a "push" in many cases. Chief 62
We are traveling PEI now and I checked into the ferry to NS. No reservations for any vehicle over 6'6". We drove down that way the other day and the 1:30 ferry had left about 30 mins. prior and there was already a line of cars and trucks for the 5:15 ferry. We will be taking the bridge. Plus it is less expensive. Ferry for up to 40' is $97. Bridge is $47. That help pays for the fuel. scouserl41
The thing is that the ferry and bridge is free going to PEI, you only pay on the way back. Somebody gave us the impression that taking the ferry over and the bridge back somehow saved money but that isn't so. We took the bridge this morning but Barbara really likes ferries so she was a little disappointed.
