AlexP
Has anyone come up with a system to avoid this? 04 Itasca Meridian (disguised journey) onan 7500 underneath. Most of the time solar does the trick, but sometimes it just gets hot, and A/C is required. I am appreciative of friendly people that let me stay on their lawn. So I feel badly burning it dead. Anyone found a solution? Thanks Alex
Jimalberta
I would think that another pipe over the exhaust pipe would help. <p>....JIM and LINDA......2001 American Eagle 40 '.towing a GMC Sierra 1500 4X4 with RZR in the rear. 1999 JEEP Cherokee that we tow as well. skp51443
I've seen folks use a drip pan intended to go under a leaky car in a garage or driveway as a heat shield. The ones I'm thinking of are about 2 by 4 feet and under an inch high so they are easy to store. Space it up well off the grass either on something or by hanging it from your rig and it will block a lot of heat for very little expense or aggravation. The neatest idea I saw was using four big (tent stake sized) spikes, that left no marks visible in the grass when removed and were less aggravation than making a set of hangers. Amazon has them and most auto parts places like AutoZone or Pep Boys will have them on hand and they won't get bent in the mail. They have a picture and size info: https://smile.amazon.com/Plews-75-755-Galvanized-Drip-Pan/dp/B000HJBF3K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1466044821&sr=8-1 First rule of computer consulting: Sell a customer a Linux computer and you'll eat for a day. AlexP
It isn't the exhaust pipe that is the problem. It seems to be the cooling air that is draw in through the radiator and then expelled downward and in my case a bit on the passenger side. Sounds like a good idea Stan. If I were OCD, I might consider trying to make it level and putting water in it as another heat absorber. But that seems way too hard. I will try this next time. StarDreamers.us
We have an external exhaust pipe system that attaches to the side of the coach and directs the hot air upward. We have a Journey and bought the system at Camping World several years ago. Works for us! Safe Travels! RyanJAD
Did you fix your problem yet? If not, I have a pretty much guaranteed solution. Let me know since I will have to research where to buy the supplies. They are simple and cheap, I just want to be able to give you as much info as possible to make it easier for you. TXiceman
What "burns" the grass is the hot air vented below the unit. Put down a couple of boards and a large metal pan over them to keep the hot air from blasting the grass.
