What the most expensive daily rate you've seen?

How can a campground survive at those rates? Electric alone would eat up a large part of that rate!

In order to maintain a nice surrounding, someone has to pay the freight. Seems that competing on price leads to a downward spiral.

Electric is charged separately. about the normal rate for the area, no rip off. Nice quiet park, I was there on the offseason, just us and maintenance crew. Had the indoor pool to ourselves also. NICE!

Are you posters with the $20 and less rate not on full hookup but site only? We've been all over the country and with our Sam's discount or AAA rates have been $28-$32 for full hookup - and these are on the cheap end with small sites, usually minimal amenities on site and the location not convenient, but full hookup. Just wondering if you all have The Secret List from the Escapees Club? Thank you in advance.

We're in agreement with you. We usually try to stay at a highly rated park in whatever city we're at; we usually use RVParkReviews.com as our "source." We almost always get full hookups and usually ask for pull-throughs. Over the past year or two, our experience has been that "daily rates" are between $35-45 depending on whether or not the park is near a major East Coast (or West Coast) city or somewhere in the "heartland" of the country. IMO $20/night for full hookups isn't going to happen unless your choice of parks is driven primarily by cost and not rating. Sure, you could stay at Escapees parks for that price, but that's way too limiting for us from a geographic perspective.

Maybe it is part of the Herman Cain 999 budget plan.

Seriously, how could I pass up an opportunity like this to make a politcal funny.

I miss Herman saying that every chance he had during the debates.

The only cheap parks we have found are usually ancient KOA's that are in desperate need of repair.

Currently at one for an overnight $25 in Commerce Ga. It's now called the Georgia RV park. Full basic hook-ups seem to work fine, but the sites are small (we're hanging out at both ends).

Even some forest service campgrounds have electric and some even have full hookups. If you have a national Senior Pass, you can stay at those parks for 1/2 price and usually an additional charger for the electric. So a hookup site could cost $12-$18 in beautiful surroundings with large sites compared to a private campground in the area costing $30 and up. There are options out there. We much prefer public parks for these reasons and dry camping is just fine with us and again, can cost as little as $6 in gorgeous areas with lakes or streams. It just depends what you think you need.

If you don't like paying the high daily rates, you can buy your own lot at the Motorcoach Country Club in Indio Ca. You have to have a modern high end motor coach and lot prices with casita's and a small building with open sides runs up to $879,900. Hard to believe but I've been there.
