Interesting app in the new issue of escapees magazine.  It's called fifthwheelstreet.com and is available in the apple app store.  The android version will be available soon.  It is supposed to match the correct tow vehicle to fifth wheel with a realistic towing capacity.  Don't have an I phone so I couldn't check it out, but someone just getting set up to tow might find it helpful.

So, they have an app to tell you what fifth wheel to get buy with what truck?  You use it once and don't need it for another few years when you buy another?  Hmmm.  I'm certain we've got to have that app. :)  What do you think?

Our racing summer has come to an end. Last weekend on the second time run something happened and the engine is not happy. It either has hurt valves or a blown head gasket or both. Bummer.  We'll be heading back to Texas soon from Springfield, illinois. We'll probably stop in Canton, Texas for http://www.firstmondaycanton.com/ on our way to San Antonio area.

Travel safe everyone.

Jeff, sorry to hear the Falcon got hurt!  A little Texas rest will probably get it going again.  Still sitting in Oklahoma rehabbing the shoulder.  I think this is worse then the hip replacement, but its definitely coming along. At least I can drive now so that is an improvement.   The rehab place is just a block from here so that's a pretty good deal.

We are going to fly out to Alaska Aug 2 for a 10 day rest from the heat.  Carol's brother bought a place in Homer and has a big fishing boat so somebody has to visit him.

Not too much going on around here (102 today), so that's probably why.  We did have the grandkids over for Chateaugay spaghetti yesterday so it was a little wild around here for a while.  They are sure growing fast, and too fast for me to catch too.  Lots of fun though.  Happy travels    Steve

Hello and good bye.  We were in the 2012 starting our venture, but we'll be in the class of 2017 for ending it.  Health issues are telling us to get off the road and settle back down in a sticks and bricks again.  But living in appr 400 sf for 5 years really changes one's taste for a house!  Seems everything we look at is 1600+ sf and we feel like we might have to leave breadcrumb trails to find each other!  But as we say goodbye to the road, we wish each and every one of you continued safe travels and many more happy days on the road.

We found a 1 bedroom apartment in a Continuing Care Retirement Community that meets all our needs without feeling lost in our apartment. There are tons of physical, social, and educational activities under the same roof so we don't even have to go out in the snow in a Minnesota winter. And the Care Center is right down the hall when we get to that level of needing help.

I don't know just where you are looking for a home, but if you are not fixed on a location, I think that you might find the community where we home-base to be more to your liking. We are an RV community, but with houses and it was begun as a place for fulltimers to transition back into fixed home living once more.

We are located just a few miles from Tyler, TX which is a major medical center and has all of the healthcare facilities most people ever need, including 3 teaching hospitals.  At present, there are several homes for sale in our community so feel free to contact me if you happen to be interested in joining us!

That sounds like a fantastic place Kirk - sadly after living in the west for too long, we can't handle humidity any longer.  Our average humidity is generally less than 20%.  When it gets to 37%, I start "suffering"!  If I could handle the humidity, I'd be very interested in that place.  We're going to stick with Colorado.  Moved from TX back in 1999, and tried a couple of years to re-adjust to TX, but the body just isn't going along with it

Us on the other hand lived in the Denver, Co. area for nearly 40 years (1972-2011). Love the no humidity but don't want to do snow anymore and summer is too short. I saw snow every month of the year except July and the only reason I never saw snow in July is because I wasn't high enough in the mountains. We'll be settling just north of San Antonio in the next year.

Travel safe everyone.

The same is true for us.  We lived in Denver area for 3 years followed by 18 in Cheyenne, WY and as much as we loved the state of WY, we can't handle their winters.

Have you and Tina started the ground break yet?
We're fairly settled in and enjoying our new digs here in the Iowa City area. College town, excellent medical care and friendly neighbors.
On the downside, I went out to the RV storage lot last Friday and fired up the engine on the MH. Wanted to make sure that it did so for the upcoming repair work this week so that we can put it up for sale. It started but, smoke started pouring out of the dash and the breaker panel in bathroom. Dash volt meter was pegged out past 18v.
Can't level the rig. House multiplex light switches are all lit up but, no lights. Genny won't start, etc. Spent the rest of the day getting it towed to a Cat shop and they haven't returned my calls yet. On the bright side, at least I have a home to sleep in!
I hate motor homes. Apparently, there's no end to the amount of money you pour into them...even when you're trying to get rid of 'em!!!

What a bummer Roger.  The Beav must have heard you were going to sell her and acted accordingly.  Sounds like one of the battery cables may have shorted out against something.  Is the battery box with the 300A fuse under the bathroom?  It sounds like one of the house battery cables was involved.  Steve

The Beav is definitely going down biting Steve! I checked the batteries...they tested and looked okay. The multiplex control box (in the breaker closet) was the smoker. I looked at those big fuses and they "appeared" alright. Finally got ahold of the service manager. Said they'd try and get a look see this p.m.

How's the shoulder treatin' ya? Getting better I hope!

We have come to the conclusion that finding a perfect spot just isn't possible. I think we have decided it will have to be a combination of 2 places when the time comes. How that will happen I have no idea LOL!!

Roger, I will have to say you have had the worst luck of any RVer I know.  My air conditioner went out and I had the hub holding the fan on the motor come apart leaving us stranded just out of Yosemote NP and a flat on the motor home.  Cost over $5500 to fix it all.  This nothing to the problems you have had.  I am very sorry for all the misery you have had and I hope it gets better for you. Hope to visit with you and Lynn again sometime in the future.

We manage that part to some degree by spending part of the year in our travel trailer, somewhere else! But most of us eventually stop RV travels due to the physical limitations that come with age.

Ouch, you guys. We certainly feel your pain. Did you need a tow? And then it's where to get service and a motel that allows pets if you can't stay in the rig.
I think that the happiest period in my life was the first two years of full timing in the ol" Airstream (Red Rooster). Trying to get back there but, I've gotta get the Beave repaired and sold first. We'll meet you guys down the road somewhere...I hope!
