WHAT!!! Has hell frozen over??? Are pigs now flying??? Come on Roger, you really do have plans right?? It should be nice in the Bend area in June. We plan to stop in La Pine just outside of Bend towards the end of April before heading to Grants Pass.

If we can actually free ourselves up from family obligations, it is our intent to head to the PNW this summer, at some point.  My ideal plan would be to loop around from east to west, maybe Idaho up to Washington and then south or if need be, up thru northern CA up to WA and then back south.

fingers crossed that we get to go at all.  The last 11 months we have been running from crisis to crisis, ugh.  In some ways I just want to stay home and veg out but I know as soon as the temps hit 110, I will get hitch itch.

So, June 9th in Bend shouldn't be too bad?

We've got from now till then to get there...any suggestions for stops along the way?

Use your Elk's membership. Many nice Elk's lodges in the west. Along the coast and inland as well.

Travel safe everyone.

I've seen those t-shirts too.  However, Oregon does have a summer with very little rain. The problem is people don't always visit during the right time of year.  Summer doesn't start until late June or early July in the PNW running usually through the end of September.  I said usually because this year has not been usual anywhere.

Well today is pretty much back to normal here in Depoe Bay.  Not raining, but cloudy and windy, which makes for some really nice wave action on the rocks below our unit.  As for this year, it has been the COLDEST winter in the last 32 years.  and is real close to being the wettest also.  So what the summer will be like is anybody's guess.  As long as I can get the boat out for a few messes of Fresh Dungeness Crab I really don't care.   And besides, EVERYONE knows that it RAINS ALL THE TIME UP HERE.

You'll like this Jeri...we have no plans, ;)

The man is learning! Our theory was do research but don't make plans. That way we knew we had options but we could choose according to what we felt like when.

Very windy drive today from Fort Stockton, Tx. to Kerrville, Tx. 250 miles of south/ southeast winds. My mileage went in the tank. :(  Saw our first Bluebonnets just east of Ozona. Here for a few days then move to Canyon Lake area just north of San Antonio.  :)

Travel safe everyone.

Well, it looks like the first big storm session is heading this way this evening.  Tornado's have been spotted in south west Oklahoma  and we should get our part of the storm at around 9:00.  I could crawl into the ice cream machine to hide, but it's a little too small.  Nice way to go I guess!  Just starting to rain now, so I guess you don't have all of it up there Joe!

Now I found out today that i'm going to have to have a dental implant!  Arrgghh.  I've had one before and I think they drilled into my brain a little bit that time.  How else can I explain that I can't remember anything anymore. It's either that or eat baby food!  Hmmm, I always liked the stewed prunes!  NO NO NO!  I didn't say that. So now all I have to worry about is the remainder of the old gray matter being destroyed.  Well, one thing about it is there is not much left so it will be hard for them to find it to drill into it.  I could go back to Las Algadones and have it done, and at least have a margarita to go along with it, but miss the tornadoes!!!!

Well, I need to go sandbag now, so i'll sign off and see if I can find any baaaaad whiskey for protection from the storm...     Steve

Steve, you Okies must get your adrenaline rush living in tornado alley. Being a fellow Midwesterner I kinda get it but, not like OK does! Stay safe my friend...I'm sure you guys know where the shelter is...make sure you don't wait too long!

Jeff, we got a lot of rain and lightning, but nothing severe in this area.  Most of the larger storm went to the North.  you're right, spring around here is a bit too exciting at times.  We just got in the habit of being here in the spring and can't seem to shake it.  We will have another round of storms this weekend.  Nice weather otherwise though:D

We were thinking about waiting until next year and go directly from AZ to Michigan but decided driving through tornado alley this time of year just wasn't going to happen so we decided to head that way from Oregon. What's a few extra miles to avoid what seems to be certain bad weather.

Hey Roger we have the House on the Rocks on our radar on our way to the Harley Museum then Door County.

That's a good start but, don't forget Lambeau...I need to hear how my stock is doin'! Gotta do some supper clubs, eh? Ely area of the Boundary Waters is another. The Wolf Center and the Chocolate Moose Restaurant. I'm sure Linda has some good tips!

Glad to hear that Steve. Too bad about those storm chasers...we'd watched them on the Weather Channel.

Oh sure, House on the rocks then on to Milwaukee (probably stay at the fairgrounds, I contacted them via email and will probably call hem in the morning) to visit Harley Davidson Museum and maybe the Pabst Mansion, We already have reservations at Sturgeon Bay in Door County where we will stay 1 week, will be securing reservations at Apple Creek just outside of Green Bay so we can do the train museum, Lambeau Field and other sites around Green Bay and travel to Oshkosh from there for the Oshkosh Airshow at least 1 day and that's just a start.

I'll be curious what you think of Apple Creek. We've stayed at the fairgrounds...good location and quiet.

Linda hasn't traveled up north for years. South of the Twin Cities Mystic Lake Casino's RV park has a self serve RV wash with power wands and catwalks so you can actually get up high. East William O'Brien State Park has electric sites. We like 38e as it is near guest parking where you can park the vehicle that didn't fit in the site. North the main thing that comes to mind is Betty's Pies but I don't know if she is still in business. Oh, and the headwaters of the Mississippi at Itasca State Park; you can walk on rocks across the river that is huge even here in town. (bring a towel; it's nearly impossible to resist the urge to wade right in.)

I think that I had a piece of Betty's pie https://bettyspies.com/ some years ago on our way to a fishing trip...very good! It's worth going there for the drive along Lake Superior. Walkin' the rocks at Itasca is a must if you're in that area.

Sounds like everyone back in the mid west and southern mid west is doing ok right now.  Glad you all have weathered the storms.  Sure doesn't seem like a good place to be this time of the year though.  Of course up here in the PNW we have been feeling the effects of the "Jeff Curse" since last October.  That said, today is looking to be one of the days we live for up here, SUNSHINE.  So we'll head down to Newport and visit the Aquarium today before packing our bags to head for home tomorrow.

You all travel safe,

Since everyone is talking about summer plans, guess I will let you know what ours are.  Even though we no longer have our motorhome, we are planning a summer vacation.  We will be leaving on August 13th for Albany, New York....quick trip to visit last living uncle who is in an Alzheimer home.  Then on to Niagara Falls for a couple of days, down to Philadelphia and then back in Virginia on the 21st. Sure will be different type of travel since it will be in hotel rooms, but we are really looking forward to it.  I will be flying to California again in early October to see family and meet my great granddaughter who will be arriving in early August. We are thinking about taking a cruise to Alaska in 2017. Not sure if it will work out but we are thinking about it.

You all stay safe with the summer travels.

Dang, that little vacation to the Oregon Coast ended yesterday.  Now back home and time for reality to set in for a bit.  Need to get the MH packed up as we are heading out for a week at the Grandy Creek TT starting Friday.  Opening weekend for that campground.

On Saturday a couple of the guys in the group and myself will be going to Paccar's Open House.  Always a fun event getting to crawl all through the newest Kenworth's and Peterbilt's.  Should be good for a few pictures to drool over later even.

Had 1 bad time on our trip.  On Thursday we went Beach Combing, saw that there was some really nice wave action going on a little further down the beach so I spent about 45 minutes crawling over big rock formations to get into position for some pictures.  Only problem was the battery in my Camera died after the first shot.  Since I only have 1 battery for the camera, that ended things for the day.  But don't tell Carol I let that happen.

Hi friends,  I may literally be putting the horse before the cart but as we are starting to look at motorhomes, we would like to know where to find a list of the best vehicles to tow four wheels down.  Not too small but definitely not a pick up.  Suggestions please.
