  2. Hello, New to Escapees but we've been family RVing since 2011 and missed New England on our last East Coast adventure several years ago (we're Pac NW / Greater Seattle based so rarely get to the east coast). We are planning on a 3-week RV trip (2016 31 ft 5th wheel with slideouts on drivers side) to New England on short notice about Sep 22 (two weeks from now) to October 13 - starting in New York City area, driving to Boston for a few days for business meetings, then on to Acadia / Bar Harbor. The return trip could go west from Bar Harbor toward Fort Ticonderoga, Niagra Falls? then south to Washington DC (at least 2 days) and return from there back to end in New York City area. Total time available is 3 weeks. As we need good internet access and power and we aren't setup well for boondocking, we'll be looking to stay at a mixture of commercial and public state parks (we have Harvest Host and a few other memberships and for work purposes want to see the best of some of the commercial chains and independent offerings on this trip (i.e. best independent, best KOA, best Thousand Trails, best Jellystone) as well as some of the best public in the New England / New York state / Pennsylvania / Wash DC area. Willing to pay a little extra a few times for a "well worth it" campground (quiet, good private spaces, special type of river/lake/view sites, etc). Looking for "must see" bucket list type great historical and landscape areas - as our son is now a highly capable amateur outdoor photographer and historical landmarks buff (small towns with historical buildings, etc). Any suggestions for how to camp near metro areas like Boston, Wash DC possibly Philadelphia? (optional but history buffs) and especially for recommendations near Acadia NP in late September. Thanks for any help and suggestions! First time in 5th wheel but experienced Class A, Class C and Trailer camping.
  3. Maine Leaves and Lobster (Head Out Program) September 27 – October 1, 2021 The best time to visit Maine is September, after the summer crowds have left, but before the temperatures drop. Maine landscapes are quaint and beautiful, and its coastal beauty is stunning! Feel the crisp air in the mornings and see Mother Nature’s abundant beauty in the vibrant colors of the fall leaves. Trees, like the dogwood, red oak and maples, turn red and burgundy; hickory, birch and elm change to gold and yellow; mountain maples are reddish-orange, and the sumac is purple. As autumn leaves grace the hillsides and mountaintops, you have a painted scenery that is unmatched anywhere else in the world! In the evenings, you can sit outside with new and old Escapees friends and watch the vibrant colors of the sunset spread across the horizon. Bring binoculars to study native and migratory birds, such as Bald Eagles, Osprey, Peregrine Falcons, Shorebirds, Warblers and Flycatchers, to name a few. Visit the beautiful Acadia National Park and learn about its history, geology, park wildlife, and make stops at Thunder Hole and also Cadillac Mountain, the highest point on the East coast. Tour a fjord named Somes Sound, which runs deep into Mount Desert Island and is one of the main sites at Acadia National Park. The Sound nearly splits the island in two. Board a lobster boat and have a unique, enjoyable tour of Bar Harbor. Watch and learn about the whales, sea lions, and lighthouses on a cruise tour. There may be sightings of Puffins, too, but most have migrated by September. The Escapees RV Club is offering a wide arrange of fantastic excursions for your enjoyment! 5. In this vlog we get our Science on, we head to DownEast institute in Jonesport Maine on Beal's island. Once we are there we get a great tour they teach us about soft shell clams, razor clams, lobsters, scallops and oysters. They do research and also have a hatchery where they keep the population up. There was so much to learn and we had an amazing time. Then we had to Ingersoll Point Preserve to do some hiking. It's an amazing trail that goes through very thick woods, on a cliff side and eventually down to the beach. We have a great time and we are getting excited for what we have planned next, make sure you tune in! ***Feel free to subscribe and hit that like button!***
  6. Maine is beautiful, spending time at our families place in Jonesport Maine we admire the amazing cloud formations, head back to Acadia National Park. We do a very intense bike ride, and enjoy the Schoodic Peninsula portion of Acadia. You need to go to Acadia, we wonder why no one is talking about this National Park, Its a top 5 for me! We love our little RV Life, hopefully you enjoy this video!
  7. Maine is beautiful, fun, vast, expansive, breath taking, we see it from a different perspective Off-Road! We take a great trail from JonesPort towards Lubec and Quoddy Head State Park in Maine. We also get very close to the Canadian border, but someone has forgotten his passport! We explain why we love Canada and go for a great hike with amazing views! ***Feel free to subscribe and hit that like button!***
  8. In this vlog is a sad but exciting day, we pack up leave Mt Desert Narrows RV Resort and head south to Cornish Maine to spend time with family in the area! We end up Moochdocking at our families house, from there we head to New Hampshire to Diana's Bath a hiking trail and waterfall ran by the United States Forest Service. Being so close right in New Hampshire we head over to North Conway to explore their downtown area with all the shops, I get some delicious beef jerky with a review, and of course we have to have some Moxie!!! A Maine staple have you ever tried Moxie? Make sure you watch till the very end!!!!! Loving the RV Lifestyle!
  9. Spending more time in Acadia National Park is amazing, we also go to Bar Harbor where we walk around the town and get some breakfast at Epi's restaurant. Then we head south to the southern most tip of Mt Desert Island where we go to the Bass Head lighthouse, also stopping to hike to some tide pools. Really hope you enjoy! Living in our RV gives us great opportunities.
  10. We watch the Sunrise on Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National park, also hike the scariest hike we have ever done, Beehive Trail in Acadia National Park. We use our Go Pro Hero 7 Black to capture amazing footage of a super intense hike that might be too challenging for many! Have a look and see what RV living and travel is all about!
