  1. Hi all. Should be there Sunday or Monday are all HDT'ers welcome? would like to stay in the general vicinity. Ron and Kerstin
  2. I've been following this discussion closely because I have a older comfort ride hitch 308. It doesn't have the straps on it so I think it's the older design it was on my truck when I bought it 2 years ago and the gentleman I bought it from had it for 3 years but the hitch could of been used then I just don't know. So I thought I should inspect the hitch to check I lifted it up and sure enough the weld at both ends are cracked. The problem is I can weld up and add some bracing but it has a plastic bushing inside and I don't know how to keep it from melting. any one got a ideal? How do you guys think this should be braced. The one thing I don't like is the pivots for the head are mounted into the sides and that is 1/8 steel I want to make new pins that are longer and weld on blocks on the outside to support that extra length also drill the pins to keep them from walking out I found them coming out already and as thin as it is It wouldn't take much to fall out of the supports. I'll add pictures here and if anyone has a educated ideal how best to reinforce the hitch I would certainly be will to listen. Thanks
  3. Yeah there 2 wee-stroms. I'm going to secure them with a pit-bull trailer restraint system. you just pull in and clip into a retainer on the floor and they say they wont move. I've blown enough fork seals to last me awhile. I'm hoping these are the cats meow. I'm installing this weekend if it comes out good i'll post a picture
  4. Wanted to show some pictures of my motorcycle box fixed up. had box made by Carson trailer just no undercarriage. i think it gonna work great
  5. the clamps you see are mostly for the old heat shields that i reused because i had them. if you look close you can see the weld job on the 2 adapters I welded together to get it to go where I wanted it to. It really wasnt that hard. good luck
  6. I made my own adapter to take it from top of frame rail to inside of frame then down and back with a 90 I think I used a 15 degree and a short 90 then a long 90 to go back also used the stack mount to make the mounts
  7. Hopefully this will wet your whistle
  8. I'll take some pictures this weekend if you would like to see them. but I made my weed burner. I used the original vertical bracket and make a pipe to bring the exhaust from the DPF on top of the rail to inside the rail Cut up a 15 deg and a 90 to make it. I'm no where my fuel tanks but there only 100 gallon tanks. I think it came out good and cheap
  9. I just installed my Knoedler air chief and it seems like a nice unit.Cost me about 1k with shipping and I bought the Volvo adapter. But I didnt ask i just assumed but the seat doesnt have a provision for the I shifter. Bob i see you have a I shift how did you mount your shifter? I modified the original bracket and it came out all right but a little rougher than a manufacture solution. Still seems like a good seat Ron
  10. I've used them several times for thousand's of dollars worth of stuff and Dustin who runs the internet store and maybe the inhouse store. has been the greatest. a real pleasure to work with. As a matter of fact I'm getting ready to make a new parts order with him in the next few days. And If you ask real nice he has Volvo hats he might give you.
  11. Use to call running the rack a tune up on a old Detroit diesel 2 stroke they had a rack that moved the injectors in and out for fuel and if you messed up it would run away. We all ways called a tune up on a Cummins running the overheads. Cat too.

  16. I know on a lot of computer controlled vehicle the computer sends out 5v to the sensors and if anything happens to that voltage to change it what comes back to the computer will be wrong. I don't know why but this often seems to be A/C stuff. If there is any insulation missing on the wire it can give the computer fits. I know ona Cummins Dodge it's often the hi pressure A/C sensor wire that has rubbed against the line that will make all kinds of readings wrong. I hope this is of some help. Iddy
  17. VegasFlyer Vegas teacher told me I ought to message you i hope it's all right. If not just ignore. But my question is I'm in 'California have to stay another 4 years and have a CDL so I'm kinda stuck. I'm wanting to single a 630 that i don't have yet and make a HDT out of. I figured I had 4 years. I don't think i can register it in Cali. Even single it would have a gvw of 32.5k and its my understanding that 26k is the cut off for non commercial use. You seem very knowledgeable about these things and I think unless I find out different my plan B is to register in Nevada and never bring into Cali it would be a pain but would only be 3 years and I thought I could keep it up at Pahrump at a storage lot or Escapees park. Do you know how I could register in Nevada I suppose I need a address is that all? Private truck? and would you happen to know what Nevada highway patrol would say if I'm stopped with California License. The truck wouldn't have Fifth wheel and air lines at first just slick back and single axle. I don't want to take up to much of your time but If you have any opinions I would love to hear them. I have a plan c and d but there even more trouble. I've read a lot of what you've written and will search again. I eventually will retire and domicile in South Dakota Thanks for any input Ron Monical

  18. Wow i really like this truck. Is there any more like it. How did you find it. I want to make a hdt with a box for 2 motorcycles and tools if I could find one like this i would cut the box in two and i would be done. If you have anymore info I would like to hear it or at least so more pictures.
